Algarrobo is located 37 kilometres east of Malaga. It is located in the Axarquia area, like Nerja, and is located on the Sun and Wine Route. It has a relatively small population: it has 4600 inhabitants all year round although this number does increase during the summer months.

Within its numerous districts, Algarrobo offers a combination of unspoilt sea-side villages and villages dedicated almost completely to tourism. The coast is dotted with 16th Century fortresses which are in good condition and beautiful historic landmarks.

The ‘Pueblo’ or Old District of Algarrobo has the typical Andalusian Moorish village structure complete with whitewashed houses, narrow streets and panoramic views. The town also has a tropical park and a large village swimming pool and tennis courts for those looking for a more active holiday.

If staying in Algarrobo, it is recommended to visit its neighboring town: Nerja. The best way to reach it is by car.
